Deus Ex, etc..

Playing Deus Ex today, I noticed something odd. My oldest save games are from 8/04/2000. This means that I've almost been playing this game for an entire year. However, all the save games are grouped into four distinct time periods. First, a few days in august, last year. Then again in November of the same year, around Thanksgiving. Then again around Christmas. Then, not again until just now. I had no idea it had been so long since I played, since most of the game is still fresh in my mind.
Fantastic game - I have no idea why I never played it enough. I think a good reason may have been the incredibly long level load times. Before I upgraded my RAM, it could take up to 5 minutes to load a save game. This is not acceptable, especially since I suck and die a lot. I'm always reloading.
Anyway, I'm getting to the point again where I'm feeling like a bum without a job, mostly because I don't have a job, and thus spend most of my day either reading or amusing myself in some other way. While I'm never bored, I begin to feel like I'm wasting my time, since I could be doing something worthwhile. I'm thinking of starting another web project - either enhancing this logging system or starting the sourceforge-like project management thing. Now that I know about DB connection pools, I really should put one together, and use that in my new system. Also, there's still that XML config file...
Kim's class is nearly over, will be Friday. Since fall classes for her don't start until the end of August, that means we'll both be sitting around the house like bums, at least, unless I get a job soon.
Finally, I'm still trying to decide on a direction I want these posts to go. Do I want them to be merely a public journal entry, thus making it convenient for my family and friends to keep abreast of my activities? Do I want it to be a forum from which I can air my various thoughts, etc? Or would I like it to be for more humorous purposes, odd musings and the like? I usually have much more to say then I'd care to type, and usually in more than one topic. This makes for extrememly long, rambling posts like this one, which is probably something I should avoid. Oh well, I'll just see what happens I guess. I had no idea there were so many possibilities inherent in a web journal.
