Juliana gets to come home
March 1, 2009
Readers of my blog might not know that my daughter Juliana was born on February 12th. This is awesome because it gives her the same birthday as both Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin. Unfortunately for me, however, my birthday is February 9th so my birthday is now guaranteed to be eclipsed by my little girl's.
She's been in the NICU for the last 2.5 weeks because she has a heart condition and the doctors wanted to monitor her for a while. She was getting progressively worse in the womb so they delivered her about a month early in the hope that the decreased pressure and medications would stop the decline and allow her to improve. Thankfully it worked and she's been getting progressively better. She isn't even on any medications at this point and is ready to come home tomorrow.
We're all very excited about it. Trying to juggle being at the hospital for her and being at home for Thomas has been exhausting. Thomas also hasn't gotten to see her very much and he's been frustrated. The nurses and doctors at Children's have been doing a great job taking care of her but as a parent you always feel like you need to be there. Hopefully soon I can post some pictures and videos of the cute girl.
