Renaissance
Sept. 5, 2001
My summer-long trip through the Dark Ages has almost come to an end. The golden days of the ancients are come round at last. Tomorrow, the nice people at AT&T are coming to install broadband access to my apartment, ending the dark reign of the dial-up and restoring the land to its enlightened state. Hopefully, this will be my last post at 3kb/s (or worse). Once again my desktop will dance with the dazzling life of video game demos, movie trailers, and music. Not only that, but now I have a reason to go buy the new Diablo II expansion, because I can reasonably play it on-line without excessive lag.
The more I remember the wealth of information available, the more I am excited about the prospect of accessing it at high speeds. I've been too long without my college dorm connection, and thirst for that ever-springing well of media that is the Internet.
